This week we continue the theme of “harvest” with some fun info about the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables of all colors. Check out the info below, and share some pictures of your colorful plates on the facebook group (LFMC OOM)! In other news, we have started a very short Monday morning wellness session at the Southside clinic to make sure we all start off the week together on the right foot. What else are you doing to take care of yourself and your colleagues? EAT THE RAINBOW Huddle Question: What is your favorite color of food? What color of food do like the least? BUILD IN: Try to eat at least one fruit and vegetable from each color group this week. ROYGBIV- This helps us remember the order of the colors of the Rainbow. All the colors have an important place in the Rainbow and in your diet! Each color of fruit or vegetable provides you with special benefits RED – antioxidants that reduce the risk of heart disease and hypertension and high cholesterol ORANGE & YELLOW – have nutrients that protect your nervous system and eyes. GREEN –eat to lower the risk of macular degeneration and help immune system function.
