This week for Operation Oxygen Mask, I want to share a list of resources for self-care. These are all digital resources, mostly phone apps for meditation and exercise. A lot of them have discounts or are even free for healthcare workers right now (many of them even if you are support staff), so it’s a great time to try something new! I’ve really been enjoying the Down Dog yoga for my morning exercise routine. Whenever possible, I’ve linked to where you can get a free trial right.
Meditation apps:
- Calm
- Insight Timer (always tons of free features, including in Spanish and other languages)
- Liberate (a meditation app designed by and for the Black community)
Exercise apps:
- Down Dog (they also have Barre, Hiit, and Prenatal yoga platforms)
- Obe
Other ways to use technology to help yourself
- Listen to some good music! Maybe try listening to a new genre of music
- Try out some encouraging podcasts. Somebody recently recommended Amanda Bucci, Marisol Herrera, and Joel Osteen to me
- Try one of these AMAZING free guided imagery recordings
Of course there are a ton more! And there are all kinds of technology-free resources for self-care. If you’ve got something great to share, let me know. To be honest, I’m running out of creative ideas here! If you’ve got any interest in helping me draft future e-mails, let me know. Or, if you think I should make this all simpler and just send a weekly reminder to ground down and take a few breaths, let me know that too!
